Sports injury

Sports Physiotherapy is concerned with the early and accurate diagnosis and treatment of musculo-skeletal sporting injuries. Its goal is to promote healing and rehabilitate the injury as quickly as possible, and to assist your prompt and safe return to sport and performance.

Sports Physiotherapy at Roundwood

Our treatment at Roundwood Health Clinic in Barnsley will involve identifying your particular sporting needs and developing specific treatment and rehab exercise programmes designed to get you back to your pre-injury performance level. We work with people with a range of sporting involvement, from recreational sports enthusiasts to elite athletes.

About The Clinic

Roundwood is the area’s largest physiotherapy clinic, with an excellent reputation for high standards of care and treatment.

We appreciate that our patients lead busy lives and so operate extended opening hours, offering daytime and evening (until 9pm) appointments.

We are easy to find – just 2 minutes from J37 of the M1 in Barnsley, and we have ample free parking.

Chartered Physiotherapists

Chartered physiotherapists differ from ‘sports injury therapists’ and ‘sports massage therapists’. Chartered Physiotherapists undergo 4 years’ training to the highest clinical standards in Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Clinical Skills. This enables accurate, safe and effective diagnoses and treatments to be carried out.

In addition to their initial rigorous training, Chartered Physiotherapists have to undertake ongoing post-graduate training in order to satisfy the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements stipulated by their Professional body, the Chartered Society Of Physiotherapy (CSP). Adequate CPD is pre-requisite to eligibility for ongoing CSP and HCPC registration.

Perhaps as importantly, Chartered Physiotherapists also have sufficient training to know when and what not to treat. In such cases your physio will be able to guide you to the most appropriate route of referral for a more appropriate medical diagnosis / tests / intervention. To this end Roundwood has excellent links and close professional contact with GPs and Consultants.

We have a dedicated team of Chartered Physiotherapists with specialist skills in the management of sports injuries, many having worked with elite athletes and professional sports clubs.

Facilities

Individual, ‘hands-on’ treatment takes place in well-equipped private treatment rooms.

We also have an on-site gym facility with a static cycle, cross-trainer etc. and offer personalised training and rehab programmes to guide you back to full function, fitness and performance.
